Investment Rationale

We invest in innovative technology companies that can rapidly achieve global industrial scale and market leadership, thereby accelerating the path to NetZero and a capital efficient green re-industrialization. We monitor six distinct sectors that all support the transition, and we strive to deploy capital in the most economically sustainable way, avoiding heavily subsidised sectors affected changing political environments. Rather, we focus on industries where demand is driven by free market dynamics and natural market expansion. We target the following sectors:

Energy Transition
Companies enabling decarbonisation through energy production, storage, and efficiency solutions. This includes next-gen battery systems, grid optimisation, and electrification technologies that replace fossil fuel reliance.
Agriculture
Innovations in precision farming, soil health, and alternative proteins. This also includes automated agriculture, and AI-driven farm management solutions to enhance sustainability and productivity.
Building and Construction
Materials and processes reducing carbon footprints, such as low-carbon materials, integrated and passive energy refraction, more efficient insulation, and circular building components.
Industrial Process Innovation
Optimisation of industrial production through superior manufacturing, automation, AI, and process electrification. Subsectors include 3D print post processing, dehumidifcation and high-efficiency climate solutions.
Water and Wastewater
Technologies that improve efficiency, treatment, and pollution control with regards to water. This includes real-time water quality monitoring, membrane filtration, decentralised wastewater treatment, and solutions addressing microplastics and industrial discharge including PFAS.
Circular Economy Waste
Solutions for waste reduction, recycling, and upcycling. Companies focused on advanced sorting, chemical recycling, secondary raw materials recovery, and innovative business models like product-as-a-service and remanufacturing.

Sustainability

Across Fund I and Fund II, our portfolio companies have avoided more than 870.000 tonness of CO2 equivalents since 2017 and 2024 cummulatively. This is equivalent to:

Heating AND cooling more than 1.200.000 European homes and the same as the annual exhaust emissions of nearly 650.000 cars*.

According to the most recent numbers from the Danish Centre for Statistics, the average Danish person emits around 6.7 tonnes of CO2 equvialents. That means that Nordic Alpha abated the emissions of over 2% of Denmark's total emissions or the same as the emissions of more than 130.000 people.

By 2026, we project the portfolio of Nordic Alpha to have avoided over 1.000.000 tons of CO2 equivalents.

Alpha Process

Nordic Alpha Partners' unique proposition is our profound strategic involvement in a company's development even before we invest.

Spotting
Our pioneering role in the large ecosystem enables us to spot unique opportunities in the technology landscape and understand the underlying dynamics within the green technology transition.
Sourcing
Our investment team sources and screens more than 400 potential investments every year, evaluating every actionable lead available. Our position in the market ensures wide access to opportunities.
Conversion
We bring more than capital. We build strategies and support sales efforts up to a year before we invest. This supportive due diligence means we convert the 100% of the attractive opportunities.
Value Creation Process
The majority of our team is engaged in value creation. Using highly operational models and direct tools, we create, de-risk and manage hypergrowth while helping management teams scale the technology.
Exits
The aim is for our companies to continue their journeys with leading corporate players. Via a bespoke M&A concept, we ensure above normal multiples benefitting both founders and syndicate investors.

Limited Partners

Nordic Alpha Partners is supported by some of the world's most sophisticated investors and limited partners.

We are managing capital commitments from a number of international institutions such as ABN AMRO, Allianz Global Investors, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Germany's Development Bank (KfW), the European Investment Fund (EIF), the Danish Export and Investment Fund (EIFO), Novo Holdings and Unigestion.

Their confidence in us underscores our mission and fortifies our capacity to drive the green transition forward.

Together, we are transforming visionary ideas and turning them into global industrial leaders in a bid to create a more sustainable future for everyone.

"We won’t address climate change with software. We need hardware to solve the problem. Nordic Alpha Partners is a unique GP in the European Landscape with a highly differentiated strategy outside the VC landscape. Traditional VCs typically engage in asset light concepts, but NAP address the companies with more intense capex needs. Scaling these types of companies is not easy, but NAP has the appropriate toolkit to tackle the challenges."
